Google User Experience Research

Google is formally calling for paid participants in “User Experience Research” studies and hiring User Experience Researchers.

User Experience Research FAQ
You'd be helping us to improve Google products, both existing ones and those that are still in development. For example, we might ask you to try out a prototype and give us feedback on it, or we might interview you to help us plan a new product.

Yes – it depends on the type of study, but typically we pay $75 for each hour that you spend with a Google researcher, either in person or on the phone. Most studies last for one to one-and-a-half hours. We don't pay for your travel time, or travel expenses, though. For online surveys, which you complete from your own computer, the amount varies, depending on the length of the survey.

Social Development Unit

Heard of it before ? SDU alias Social Development Unit, promoting marriage among graduate singles and inculcating positive attitudes towards marriage among all singles in Singapore to achieve strong and stable families in Singapore.

I was chatting with a colleague the other day and we had a casual conversation in the car, was asking about his work and family, How SDU came in ? Well I asked how he got to know his wife, Nah not through SDU. He knew her since their poly days. Then he asked if I got a gf, I replied "single now". And he continued with a few other questions and he told me one of his friend actually register at SDU. For a second I found that term very familiar think i heard it before somewhere, but no idea what's that. He did explained SDU's purpose and oh I was thinking (are you implying meto go register too ?). That somehow trigger me to go research about this SDU.

For those interested, visit SDU

Torpark

A new web browser have been launched. It promises to protect the privacy of Internet surfers from "hostile governments" or "data thieves."

"Torpark," a modified version of the popular Mozilla Firefox browser, enables computer users to travel the Internet in a way that "leaves no tracks behind," Hacktivismo said in a statement.

Some claims from the creator, Hacktivismo
For example, someone could go online using a home computer in Ghana and it might appear to websites that they were at a university computer in Germany, according to Hacktivismo.

Torpark also hides computer users' identities from companies providing the Internet services, according to its creators.(Good for downloading mp3 and leave no trail? =D)

Osama's 'death'

There was news from French intelligence memo suggesting Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden might have died. It was reported in the French regional newspaper l'Est Republicain and Sunday in Le Parisien.

Background of Osama
Born in Saudi Arabia to a wealthy family with close ties to the royals, bin Laden allegedly funded and directed the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York and Washington that killed around 3,000 people. ( Saw the Sep 11 program from Channelnewsasia the other day, it's was chaotic and I remember a scene: 3 Executives were escaping from the building and thought it was a 'normal' fire BUT their face turned when you met the fireman. They asked them on some stuff and the reply they got "We are at war". How would you react upon hearing that?)

His Al-Qaeda organisation has also been linked to several other attacks, including the 1998 US embassy bombings in Africa, a 2000 suicide bomb attack on a US warship off Yemen, and the 2004 Madrid train bombings.

He has been successfully avoided capture despite the 2001 US-led invasion of Afghanistan, which toppled the Taliban regime that had provided him refuge and protection, and a 25-million-dollar bounty on his head.

There are still alot in the world doubting about the creditability of this information including myself.(Bin Laden has several times been rumoured to have died in the past, only to appear later in audio or video recordings.) Maybe this the reason.

Second Life

Hey what's that ? Beat me when I first came across it, read the brief description and thought it was a another program to make WoW (World of Warcraft) raid planning better. IT'S a VIRTUAL WORLD of anything!

Here's what is all about, Sound pretty interesting, will get my hands on it these few days,

Second Life, a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by 322,621 people from around the globe.

3D building Guitar

* From the moment you enter the World you'll discover a vast digital continent, teeming with people, entertainment, experiences and opportunity. Once you've explored a bit, perhaps you'll find a perfect parcel of land to build your house or business.

* You'll also be surrounded by the Creations of your fellow residents. Because residents retain the rights to their digital creations, they can buy, sell and trade with other residents.

* The Marketplace currently supports millions of US dollars in monthly transactions. This commerce is handled with the in-world currency, the Linden dollar, which can be converted to US dollars at several thriving online currency exchanges.

Here's some videos from Youtube,
0.o wooo like playing Sims =D, QIQI!!! MUST CHECK THIS

OMG I M GONNA get my hands on it, you can build anything as long as you can imagine it

Bingo!

Nah it isn't the Bingo game this time, was posting on the kukuclock a few posts back. Now something related to time again, the Bingo Watch

How do I read it ?
Here's the instruction,
The outer dots are numbered 1-12 for the hours and the inner dots for minutes - there's a small red marker on the inner track which points to the minutes in a traditional manner.

Unlimited Bus Ride - SBS

Car owners, may skip this section as it might not be relevant to you. SBS Transit has a new offering that give SeasonPass gives users unlimited trips on buses for $98 a month.

This new pass will benefit commuters who pay more than $3.30 a day for bus travel.
My personal case study, I would spent $2.50 on SBS bus to/from office.
Taking average of 23 working days per month, $2.50 X 23 = $57.50

Comparing it with another user, which pay more than $3.30 per day,
$3.30 X 23 = $75.90

Hmm, to make it worth the $98 bucks, unless you travel on both weekends,
$3.30 X 30 = $99
or a minimum travel fee of $4.30 per day,
$4.30 X 23 = $98.90

Promotion
(1) SBS Transit is offering a discount of $30 to commuters who buy three months worth of season pass stamps.

(2) NTUC members get a bigger discount, and get an additional $24 discount, paying $240 for a three month pass.

SK-II

Gosh, this will be a major impact to the reputation of the famous skin product, SK-II. Are you one of the SK-II user, heard of the news from China ?

What:
"SK-II is suspending sales of its skin care products line in China and temporarily
closing its SK-II counters", note posted at a consumer refund location in Shanghai said.

Why:
Last week Chinese authorities discovered traces of the two toxic metals in nine SK-II products including powder, foundation, lotion and cleansing oil products. Shanghai health officials added three more items to the list Friday.

Shanghai health authorities said Friday they found chromium and neodymium in three more SK-II cosmetics -- a facial cleanser, a wrinkle treatment mask and a whitening product.

Chromium can cause eczema, while neodymium irritates the skin and can damage the lungs and liver if inhaled.

Screaming obscenities, an unruly group of consumers kicked down the front door of the Procter and Gamble office only hours after the company said it would stop selling its Japanese-made SK-II line.

SINGAPORE : The Health Sciences Authority says it has completed its testing on the six SK-II products sold locally, which have been reported to contain harmful ingredients.

HSA says its results showed these two substances are present in the products as trace impurities and are at levels which do not pose any safety concerns.

HSA adds that it will continue to closely monitor the situation and keep an eye on the safety of cosmetic products sold in Singapore.

Point of views,
A, I m gonna stop using SK-II products after hearing this HARMFUL substances!!
B, Well, it's reported that the contents are at a levles which do not pose any safety concerns.
C, I m scare of the side effect who know I might be the unlucky one.
D, The result of the product is great, that all I care.

Cyril Magic "string"

Do you enjoy watching magic trick ? Personally I like it, all the "WoW", "How he did that", "That's amazing" and somehow it would be great if the magician actually teach you the trick =D. Check this video, How to move a ring diagonally upwards?

Cyril's magic lesson

Check this "cap in the bottle" too, if only I know the trick behind. awesome!!!

Alarm

RINGggggGGGG!!!!!DU DU DU DU!!!! Time to wake up. How many of ya actually wake up immediately upon the alarm alert ? That's a tough task for me 5 times a week man. My bad habit, tendency to hit the snoozes button. Since University days, I have been using my mobile phone alarm function till now.

Gotten my worst record today, pre-set the alarm at 0800hrs and snoozed it for an HOUR (held my mobile phone in my palm and keep pressing the snooze =\). I purposely set the interval of the snoozing alarm to 1 minutes prevent myself from getting too deep into dreamland again. It used to work but somehow today it failed terribly. Unwillingly, I drag myself off bed with a half-awake brain and get a wash up which help alittle.

Experience the above ? Any personal tips working together with one of the human best friend "ALARM" devices ? Came across this awhile ago, "kukualarm"

It base on the theory of waking up the mind first.

Kuku Alarm ClockHow about collecting eggs then? That is after all what they do on the farm. This funky, but highly practical Kuku Alarm Clock forces you to do just that.

Set its alarm and then be greeted every morning by your Kuku Alarm Clock laying eggs...and because it won't stop chirping until you've returned its eggs(0.o what if you couldnt find the last egg =D), this clock will not only wake you up, but keep you up. Just imagine how difficult it’d be trying to return to your slumber after crawling around the floor and looking under your bed, sheets or pillows for each and every last egg.

A whole lot more effective than tropical waterfall sounds or cute chirping birds, the Kuku Alarm Clock makes it difficult, if not impossible to go back to sleep. In fact, after this clock's five eggs and crowing sounds, you'll probably have to restrain yourself from throwing it against the wall.

Waking up is always hard to do, but this alarm clock actually makes it fun to get out of bed.

Thailand Unrest

State of even greater uncertainty and confusion are happening in Thailand. Just when I thought the rainy days are over for Thailand after the King helps to resolved it's political unrest over the Thai PM, Thaskin. Thai Military had seize control of the Constituion, Senate, Cabinet. Message from BANGKOK - Thailand's coup leader, General Sonthi Boonyaratglin, said Wednesday the military needed to seize power in order to unite the nation after months of political turmoil.

You might consider adjourning your travel to Thailand for the time being,MFA advises Singaporeans planning travel to Thailand to monitor developments and take precaution.

Performance on the share market are affected too, from the
"Singapore shares lower after Thai military coup"
article.
There is an additional concern in that the devastating 1997 Asian financial crisis had its epicentre in Bangkok when the Thai government allowed the baht to float freely in the face of a sharp deterioration in the country's balance of payments.

More info from wiki, East Asian financial crisis
The currency tumbled, sparking a collapse in Thailand's financial system which then spread across Southeast Asia and the broader region and required a massive International Monetary Fund-led bailout to halt.

Tracking Clicks on Link

Thought of adding the tracking features on link clicks statistic by users. Did a search on google and one of the search points to google analytic. If you have the an account with google analytic and you wish to track the clicks on the links of your website,

Here's the example, additional codes in [a href] tag by adding this codes 'onClick="javascript:urchinTracker('/outgoing/example_com');"'

<a href="http://www.example.com" onClick="javascript:urchinTracker('/outgoing/example_com');"/>

Important: if your pages include a call to urchinTracker(), utmLinker(), utmSetTrans(), or utmLinkPost(), your Analytics tracking code must be placed in your HTML code above any of these calls. In these cases the tracking code can be placed anywhere between the opening <body> tag and the JavaScript call.

To verify if you have done it correctly, check your Top Content report 24-48 hours after the updated tracking code has been executed.

Any idea how do I display the number of clicks behind the individual links.

Check support for using track clicks on outbound links

National Serviceman - Dead

GOSH!!! Another National Serviceman pronounced dead.

SINGAPORE: A full-time national serviceman was found unconscious at the foot of a four-storey building in Hendon Camp(I remember the last death case happened in the same camp. An officer drowned.) early Monday morning, and later pronounced dead.

Not much details given for this case, have to wait for the investigation report.
National serviceman death - CNA.

Examples

Came up with these 2 examples awhile ago,

1) If you wanna go hougang from tampines and only mode of transport is bus. You choose to take bus 10, will you reach hougang ? Everyday you take bus 10 and expect to reach hougang.

If the current actions does not bring you what you want. CHANGE your action!

2) Have it happen in your life before, you wanted something so dearly, eg a wallet that can purchase with $10. Will you be attracted to it or treasure it ?

If this wallet need you to pay $5000, take 1 week of leave, take flight to Nepal, swim for 10km to get it. How will you treat this wallet ?

Mua Ji

Oh it should be "Home-made" Mua Ji. Those who have yet to try this sweet base snack, you can get this for a price of 2-3 bucks at some coffee shop stall or the night markets. If you are free, how about a try of it for your love ones (the ingredient are rather and easy to make) ? The only tough part, IT's the stirring of the flour patties in the pot, when they start to cool down, it become super duper STICKY. But this process will determine the elasticity and chewing feel of the end product. Sob, though we made a whole pot of it, I only get a small share of it. The rest were distributed to my neighbours by my mum. Wanna be my neighbour ? haha.

Here's the recepie, "Mua Ji"

Ingredients

glutinous rice flour
water
roasted peanuts
sugar

Mua Ji - 9 Steps
1) Mix glutinous rice flour and water thoroughly until a smooth batter is formed.
2) Boil a pot of boiling water.
3) Prepare another pot and add some cooking/onion oil.
4) Make small patties from the batter, put them into the boiling water.
5) When the patties are floating, scoop them up into the other pot with oil and keep stirring the patties until they form a single entity.
6) Add enough sugar to the roast peanuts to pass the taste test
7) Cut up small portion of the glutinous rice cake and roll it on the peanut-sugar mixture.
8) Further cut the portion into bite-sized and mix well with the peanut-sugar mixture.
9) Ready to serve =D

Drink/Drive? Drink&drive

If you belongs to the second catergory, Drink&Drive, Japanese automakers are accelerating their efforts to develop cars that will not start if the driver has taken alcohol.

Nissan Motor Co. is considering developing a car that will not start unless the driver correctly inputs a long pin number, a difficult task for a person under the influence of alcohol.

The automaker is also considering developing a car, equipped with an alcohol detector, that would not start if there is alcohol on the driver's breath.

Industry leader Toyota Motor Corp. is also developing cars that will not move if the driver has taken alcohol.

In the United States and Europe, a system that locks the engine if alcohol is detected on the driver's breath is already in use, and a Japanese nonprofit organization is promoting such a system in Japan.

With all the above said, they miss out one point, there are lots of other automotor makers around. Consumers could easily switch to a "non-alcoholbuster"friendly car.

Pinky

0.o a new layout from qiqi blog, MUCH BETTER compare to the previous one =D. It's more reader friendly and organise now. I like her scrolling photo banner. Oh ladies smokers ,will you spend on this?

PS: Got some problem with my warcraft3, can't connect to bnet. In the mist of finding the resolution, Look! Haha, used to use this phase "get a life man" on those hardcore gamers in game. If you didnt get the meaning/ for non gamers, in all games, generally you can keep living as long as you play. Even some games with game over, with a game restart, you can do it over again. !Endless life!

Now once again, you can look at things/subjects from lots of angles. And individual's perspective on those things/subjects might varies too. Which might leads to constructive outcome(positive competition)or destructive conflict(eg war)due to different ideas.

How much is it ?

Do you have google adsense on ya website ? Check out how the cheque might look like =D. Click on the photo to enlarge it, How much does it says?

By the way, that guy site is shoemonkey, http://www.shoemoney.com

I feel that the tagboard is missing some attributes, compare to cbox, it doesnt have the date/time stamp, and you cant go back to older posts. Got a couple of other ideas to add too. Thus there will be another revamp to my blog these couple of days again.

Reports

Just a quick sharing with you guys, hear/see google adsense? If you are wondering what's that,it will flash relevant advertiser's ads on your website and you make some revenue. Advertisers pay either when users click on ads, or when the advertiser's ad is shown on your site. Upon the birth of my blog, I had implanted the adsense codes . Actually I started with blogging because I wanted to try out how google adsense works? Unknowningly, I saw tones of website putting up google adsense. Out of curiousity, I stumbled upon blogger and they offer simpify methods of getting adsense up and running with a few simple clicks. Here's the report generated after 3 months,

yucks, what can I do with $0.46 ? Taking a positive mind set, I earned the $0.46 in a passive way =D? For those guys which have high traffic to your website, I strongly recommend registering with adsense.

In the initial phase of blogging, I prompted myself with the following, "who will be reading this ? how many people are actually interested?" I found a free and simple visitors counter, but it isn't informative for me. Ended up with another service by google, Google Analytics. It's a interesting, detailed and user friendly service with statistic monitoring that generate graph output for easy digestion/comparsion. Take a look at the report, I get to know the source of visitor referral to my site.

If you wish to find out more about adsense, check out this Google Adsense. For Analytics, check out this Google Analytics

Are you what you signed?

been quite a few days since my last post. Well my notebook still in infected status, recalled the cracks that i was searching ? Yeah it's still hitting hard and getting stronger each day. Tones of trojan, adware, unwanted pop up, you named it man. Hives of the bugs!!!!

Had no choice but to use the last resort, recovery CD which wipe out everything on the disk. The reinstallation still in process man, need to get this VPN(virtual private network) software from my colleague.

Attended a course on thursday, "signature and you", do you know what's that ? It's called Graphology, it's the study and analysis of handwriting especially in relation to human psychology. In simple term, handwriting reading. When you signed your signature, it actually reflects how you want the world to perceive you. The handwriting 'reader' will be able to tell your personalities and character from your signature and a short paragraph. BUT it can't predict your destiny and tell you 4D or Toto.

From the speaker, I got to know that sometimes, during interview when you are asked to write a paragraph about something with signature(if the role/position is important enough to the company) the applicant's writing may be send to graphologists for analysis to determine if your personality and character fit the role.

After attending the short 2.5hrs course, I tested it out on my colleagues =D(on 4 of them). With a few basic key points, I read their signature, AMAZINGLY some of the points I gathered from their signature actually related to their first impression on me. After the readings, they all seem pretty entertained, Cheers!!

PS: Ask me for a signature reading when we meet up the next time. Don't worry, your bank account will be in safe hands. =D

37th OCT

Phewwww after a long, tiring and frustrating 2 days, I managed to get the OCT(Officer Cadet Trainne) video converted to the accepted format/size limit by 'youtube' and upload it. There are 2 parts, first, a 5 min appetizer follow by a 10 min main course, HOW about Dessert ? Bear with us please, we have limit production budget. I feel so emotional watching it again 3 years later, Enjoy!!

Appettizer

Main Course

For start I searched the web for free converter of avi to divx format, found plenty of them and tested about 5-6 of them. All of them comes bundle with this watermark build-in on their trial version.

I spent hours waiting for the file to be converted and found out that the output was incorporated with watermark. Thus the next thing in mind, CRACKs, SERIALs which are highly affiliated with virus, trojan, spyware etc. It pretty hard to find cracks/serials for latest version of these softwares.

Finally, I found a few BUT got an alert from the antivirus, zzzz. Lastly, I reached this 'ConvertMovie 4.0', got it's crack file and did a scan with my anti virus, nothing pop. Great, I proceed to execute it, NO!!!!!!!!!! Adware, trojan!!! There goes my laptop for the next couple of days. Hope I won't need reformat.

Resolution
Try 'window movie maker'. 'Youtube' accept the output format of window movie maker.

Carrot for rabbit

How's this gadget? Samsung YP-Z5F

A guy from starhub called this afternoon and I got to know that my resident maxonline contract has ended. He tried to induce me with the gadget aka carrot =D in order to tie us as their client for another 24mths (hey that’s 2 YEARs). I told him that I will be checking out the freebie online and reply him later. Reason? I remember seeing promotion offers like networking package which worth a few hundreds and Xbox 360 why pick this lower value item.

Just done with my research, the higher value freebies are tied to Maxonline ultimate or 6500 =\, I belongs to the 4000 category. Well I did a check on their competitor, singnet, hmmm nothing interesting on their broadband package.

Do you have digital voice? Free incoming and outgoing call FOC until Dec 2007 but you need to get a digital voice enable modem and register for the service. I got this digital voice a few months back, my only house line now and it require the modem to work. With the above notes, plus my current satisfaction level of their service is still good. I shall be a rabbit one more time haha.

PS : Strong Competition coming from our neighbour , good news Minister for International Trade and Industry Rafidah mentioned that the recent proposal to levy a RM20 tax on foreign cars entering Johor has been scrapped.

Mon - Move On

Started with a pretty rush day, well blame my bed haha just too comfortable. Skipped the most important meal of the day - Breakfast. Do you have a habit of eating breakfast ? I like having breakfast in the morning when i was in Aussie, if i m lazy at least a slice of bread spread with peanut butter(those wif nutz crunchy) plus a glass of ice cold milk. Yummy!! ^_^ But i hardly take my breakfast when I m back in town. Wonder why ? Any analysis from you ? My guess, weather.

Colin (my colleague) and I was tasked to setup some stuff, quite abit of uploading and downloading to do for the whole day. Well we have a pathetic temporary computer to work with thus i continued on my book and let him settle the stuffs =D. A guy from another department was there to guide us. But he's kinda of slow man(he know his stuffs but his fingers seem to pause alot on the keyboard) Oh, if someone guiding you on some topic and he/she offered, "if you are in doubt, just ask me" what would you do when you are in doubt ? Ask right ? And what you expect ? a reply on your question right ? Well this guy told us to ask questions when in doubt. When i poped the questions, most of the time he will show me his palm. lesson learnt

CHeers!!! great job for completing the last day of the week man. Weekends!!! But it's kinda of sad to look at my wallet right now, TOTALLY empty and i withdraw 50 bucks like 2 days ago. Food and transport expenses getting higher man. Or its the effect of the rising transport cost ? Just learn the the 4 level of wealth from Adam khoo book, "Secrets of self-made millionaires". The first level, Finanical Stability, was kinda of puzzle initially - what he meant by that?

Definition by him, Finanical Stability
1) Your current cash/cash equivalent items can sustain your current monthly expense for a minimum of 6 months
2) Possess hospitalisation and life protection for your family should anything happen.

Actually sometime someone told me about the cashflow to cover expenses for 6mths but i didnt really bother about. And guess did I manage to accumulate the required amount in my bank account after working for nearly year? NOPE =\. There's a simple strategy for it, actually a formula. stay tune.....yawnz....晚安

Rate this customer service experience

Just finished with the email on yesterday incident.

"
Hi, I m Sam. On 22 Aug 2006, I made a call to IBM support center @ 1800 3172 888 to make a request for recovery CD. After verification of my machine type and serial no., the customer officer recorded down my contact no. and informed me that i will receive a call from the support center to process my request. After a delay of few hours , i decided to call up support center @ 64189933, i waited on the line for nearly half an hour before i hang up. Tried another few calls later and finally someone pickup the call. But they could not find my record, i was shocked, the communication/transferring of customer information between the two place need some SERIOUS synchronization. The officer did try to trace my records using my mobile no. that i had provided to support center but failed. And the only way i have to go through the trouble of calling support center again. It's like pressing the RESET button and you have to start all over again.

I had the worst customer service experience and it's from a reputable company like IBM. I am utterly disappointed.

Mirror of Me

This weekend could be a busy one for some people out there, events like World Cyber Games @ Suntec and National Library Book sale @ Expo.

But kinda of in anti-crowded mood lately thus i choose to play Mahjong with beng, zk & ter on Sat and a relaxing day at silo beach with my NSI on Sun. Goddess of luck isn't on my side for gambling yesterday, for no good reason i became the shooter that create 2 rounds of max limit and a half limit to my opponents in 3 consecutive rounds. Well! that occurred only once in a blue moon.

As for the Sunny Sunday, gathering was cancel due to poor attendance. I was like didn't we all agreed on it two weeks ago.

So here's my Sunday at home, woke up late due to the overnight mahjong session followed by juicy prata-curry drumstick combo Wooo yummy!! Need prepare lunch, actually plan to do a simple 3 minutes maggi mee but my AUssy days suddenly zapped into my mind and here's the output. tahhhh - dahhhhhh "Stir Fried Mee with Nor Hiong"
Feel hungry ? haha

Here's some of pics :

Wonder why the auntie gave me 2 spoons ? Right and left hands?

Big Feast @ Pizza Hut BUT i only ordered a chicken mushroom soup =
Ok, here's the mirror part, i telling off my jacky on his behaviour and attitude for school work. It always pissed me off when he asked me some school work during the last few hours of the day before the next schooling day. That's a pretty long long story to it. As i was telling him off, he kept silent but from his facial expression (he seem to be listening and reflecting but kept smiling) suddenly i feel i m speaking to myself. I asked him "what's so funny, i m not telling you a joke here?" and his reply, "I m always like that". In the past, when speaking to others, i would most likely put on a smiley face be it good/bad/sometimes even serious matter, i couldn't control it. I wonder if it's the carefree attitude, cant be bother, lack of seriousness or something else. It's good to smile but do it at the right time.

Time for chess with Mr Zhou....

Nitroglycerin

UK, London on national critical terrorist alert 2 days ago, to-date 24 suspect has been arrested for the plot of flight bombing. Lots of flights have been delayed or cancel. And passenger have are allowed only minimum hand luggages.

The news reported that the explosives planned to be use are easily attained!!!! nitroglycerin - a colourless or yellow liquid made by combining sulphuric acid, nitric acid and a glycerin powder. When mixed, it is highly volatile and can be detonated by a small spark or vigorous shaking.
TATP (triacetone triperoxide), which can be made using nail polish remover and hydrogen peroxide.

According to one of the experts, the cost of these materials are rather affordable. =\

With reference from, http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/story.html?id=05c25106-9147-40a5-bf1e-d90fedfbc6d3

What's going on in this world? terrorist act, Israel & Lebanon conflict, all day high oil price, typhoon, Nuclear issue.

PS: Great effort for detecting the plot and deployment of the proactive actions.

3hrs @ TM

well to start off the new week, got a few items on mind and Tampines mall could help me resolve those. Oh and i found out that Tampines mall actually got a website, www.tampinesmall.com.sg

Spent around 3hrs there, here's the breakdown. Look for my printer ink at courts. Yucks they didnt have the black ink and i asked the salesgirl if there's other places around which sell this. She replied "No". Well in my mind there are challenger and maybe the best connection in century square. Maybe she doesnt shop around this area. In the end, i got it from popular book store.

Next thing on mind, to look for my bro gift. Got a black colour backpack off Isetan. Initially i thought of getting a green bag but from the condition of the current red bag, i guess black will be a better choice.

Lastly, first visit to "Hair Mechanics" greeted by a nice smile from the lady boss, ann, upon entering the shop. Next, i was directed to my seat and serve with a drink and magazine. The staff gave me a maxsim and newman, yeah stuffs that interest guys =D and it was pretty up-to-date, June 2006 issue. Someone poped behind my back when i was reading, oh my hair stylist of the day, Caslyn. Had a small discussion with her the hair style. Do you enjoy your hair cut session? Personally, i enjoy watching hair stylist who look very focus and executed their cuts in a detailed manner. Overall experience of this visit is good and pleasant.

shop & movie

HapPy Birthday!! to my country, Singapore and my bro. Wanted to get a backpack for my bro since he has been using my bag for the past months. He's rarely go out for shopping on clothes/bags/shoe. I understand most guys hardly do shopping but at least buy those items you need man. Some people give excuses like no time, no $$ for buying things that consider "need". Well it will be a long topic to dwell on.

Went to bugis with fox to browse for baggy, he's looking for those professional sling bag too. But couldnt find he's like at the end of the day. oh ya, here's the new shop of andrew's & co.

Fox in VIP room, oh he's on standby and answering calls on a Saturday. Well standby sux, but that what ahead of me starting Sep =

Time for MAKAN!!! Dinner. Went to the "Zheng Zhong Chong Qing Huo Guo", steamboat. Pretty crowded over there man. They have good variety of food and free flow drinks(only lime and sour pulm). It would be better,if the watermelon were ice cold =D. Overall rating 3.5/5

Ending the day with a movie, "Click" wonderful show. Working hard for the family is great but do leave some attention for them too. Need to learn about balancing work and family. How to do that? Ask those who have done it. Final note, it's good to do regular feedback to your day's actions when you are calm and relax. Sometime things might be overwhelm in your head and you reacted without thinking.

Key to major illness

still remember the sheep dolly ?? The first cloned sheep by humans. There's been lots of funds and resources pump into research of human cells or maybe usable organ parts ultimately to prolong one's life.

Still remember the movie, "The Island" ? For those who missed it, its about a company who provide backup human parts (only for those richie). This company actually got a large scale underground factory cloning their clients once they signed off the deal. Upon crisis of the client, his/her clone will be used.

From, http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/221554/1/.html
Singapore-based biotech company, ES Cell International (ESI), has become the first in the world to create human embryonic stem cells designed for clinical use.

This could speed up international stem cell research, which holds the key to the cure of major diseases.

This technology will prolong human health and lifespan in time to come. More lives maybe save, together with new lives born, what will happen?

Bus agony

Anyone has this feeling of rushing for some events or meeting someone but the bus just won't appear ?

I used to have them whenever i want to take bus 72, somehow it's just so popular. Just a few days ago i remember seeing through 4 X bus 88 before the 72 finally appear. On some occasion where luck is playing fun with ya, the passenger capacity is madness. You will be like almost sticking to one another. Saw this news today,

The standards cover six essential aspects of service -

* Bus service reliability - for example, at least 85 percent of bus services should not deviate more than 5 minutes from the scheduled frequency
* Loading - for example, weekday peak period bus loading shouldn't exceed 95 percent
* Safety
* Provision of information
* Availability of bus services
* Integration with other modes of public transport

reference : http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/221315/1/.html

Well good for the consumers that our agony maybe resolve. But if you are the public transport captains, what's their view on this ?

Transition

Yeah!! finally got my new pair of spec. Make a different type this time, using the transition lens which protect your eyes from ultra violet rays.

[[mummy with my spec]]

From benefits taken from transition webby, http://www.transitions.com/page.cfm?id=96

Convenient protection means getting protection from both glare and harmful UV radiation whenever you need it, without having to think about it.

Visual quality means taking into account all the factors that can diminish vision, and choosing eyewear that provides the best vision, both indoors and out.

Visual comfort means having comfortable vision in any situation, minimizing eye strain and eye fatigue.

Hmmm is this true ?
Most people understand the need to protect their skin from UV rays, but most are not yet aware of the need to protect their eyes. Unfortunately, the effects of UV rays are cumulative. Research also shows that by age 18, most people have accumulated 80% of their total lifetime exposure to the sun.

Some personal views after this afternoon encounter, was on my way to take bus. It was about 1400hrs and pretty glaring outside, without knowing the glaring effect reduce, in my mind,oh must be my transition =D. In the past, i will be struggling with those glaring rays.

Conicidence

Went back to office to settle some paper work and email. I was chatting with my new manager, Victor and CL ( one of colleague who just resigned )pop in front of us. He's now under GMP(a recuitment company). Hmmm just a thought, if the department turnover rate is high ? Does it mean anything ? After gathering some hear say and research, most of the people in my department will leave upon completion of their bond (about 2.5 years) except for some minority.

Had lunch with him and two other guys at a nearby market. Upon parking i saw this nice car,

hahahah i just love bmw

And this my lunch. -> taste like baozhang's home-make maggi mee.

A went to order first, B (me, i saw A coming back without knowing what he ordered). C came after me ( but we mid halfway after i had ordered). D went last. Conicidentally all 4 of us make order with the same stall.

On our way back to the carpark, one of them was saying "better get back to office fast, finish up the tasks and pack up before the manager pop up". Almost immediately when he finished his last word, the door to carpark opened and we saw the manager walking towards us. LOL

10M wedding

How much do you plan for your wedding ? It's 50k for my wedding. How would you want it to turn out ?

Check this http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/217201/1/.html

"It's a $10 million fairy-tale wedding between a Singaporean bride and the son of an Indian tycoon.

Decked like a prince, 27-year-old Adarsh Gabodia arrived - on a horse - at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on Tuesday evening to claim his 25-year-old bride Neha Didwania.

A 6.5-carat engagement ring was what he gave her as a token of his love.

This was followed by a 10-carat diamond wedding band estimated to be worth at least a million dollars. "

fuel

Have you notice that general product/services prices are going up, especially the bills. One of the root issue, fuel price spike. Many countries are affected globally. What's going on in middle east man ? Fuel resource depleting soon?

Heard that SBS gonna review the fare soon. My mum updated me on the rise of electricity and gas bills. One of the article today - ComfortDelgro, which operates 15,600 taxis, has said that from July 10, it will increase the flag-down fare for its Comfort, CityCab and Yellow-Top taxis by 10 cents.

ComfortDelgro will also double the peak hour surcharge from July 10.

It is also adjusting its distance-related fare structure, which means commuters will be clocking a shorter distance for every 10 cents metered.

Even the gov are using it as reasons - "Maritime officials have said that the high cost of fuel is one key element restricting Indonesia's ability to conduct frequent maritime patrols along its vast coastline."

PS : those with car allowance, try ya luck asking for car allowance review =D
